Albert King “Lucy” Flying V (Original Log)

Description

This guitar was built by Dan Erlewine and his helper over the course of two years. It was “the last of the original log” of walnut wood that was used to create the original Lucy for Albert King in the early 70s. It is marked as such on a sticker signed by Dan inside the control cavity.

While I had initially planned to keep this for my collection, things have changed for me. I love the guitar and will never be able to replace it, but putting it up for something else.

Things to know:

The Truss Rod was set with some threads past the nut.

There are swirl marks in the clear coat all over and even some slightly deeper scratches here and there when viewed in discerning light. Think “VOS” like treatment on both the body and pickguard

The guitar has a shallow neck angle. the bridge was shaved down by the builders to account for that. There is little to no downward adjustment. The guitar plays well as-is but your personal tastes may vary

Dan and his helper built the guitar and the parts

The pickguard is cracked in two locations but works fine and hides well

Ships in a tweed case. The fit isn’t perfect but does what it needs to well. The case does have some light wear to the exterior

Think of this like a 8.5/10 and you’ll be pleased 🙂
