The Case…

This guitar comes stock with its original brown+pink Gibson Custom Shop case. Inside sleeps the COA, original box tag and a few extra goodies Gibson throwns in in the form of vintage reissue hang tags and cards. The case shows light handling/storage wear and some impression of the interior foam blocks.

The Guitar! 50s Neck | 7lbs 1oz | Custombucker Pickups

This is the brand new for 2025 Gibson CUSTOM SHOP Moderne Mahogany. This is the first time the custom shop has made a production-level Moderne… ever. The last similarly made ones were from Gibson USA as dealer exclusives in 2012/2019. These are most similar to the 80s Heritage Series Korina Modernes, but now made out of Mahogany! $5499 brand new

This unit was purchased new from the Gibson Garage to create a review + demo video (not yet aired)

It is in similar to new condition, but I did notice a few things I’d like to point out

– This is a VOS finish. This means they put a “gunk / polishing compound” on the guitar and leave it there. That makes it look like an old guitar that has sat in its case for a while. What this means for you – expect to see swirl marks all over if you view this in the light, ESPECIALLY on the headstock. There are some picking marks on the front of the body and minor marks on the back from play. These are primarily just a disturbed VOS layer that you see if you shine a light on the guitar – otherwise, invisible. You could opt to polish those areas to greatly reduce the appearance of those marks, but then you’ll be left with a polished area without the VOS treatment. My advice – leave it alone and enjoy the guitar – or polish the whole thing

-This left the custom shop with a long truss rod. It is fully functional but has many threads sticking out past the top. Don’t ask me why the custom shop does that – I see it all the time on new guitars

– There is a blemish around one of the string retainers. The screw was stripped, so I did a temporary dowel to secure it. The blemish appears to be where the retainer originally sat on the face of the headstock and “smashed” the lacquer down.

– minor wear from my use in handling it for about an hour
