Description
This was later found to be one of the final “crimson division” produced guitars before the program was discontinued!
This is no regular ’68 Les Paul Custom Reissue! It comes from Gibson’s prestigious Crimson Division where the best-of-the-best materials and ideas come together to produce the finest of what Gibson’s master luthiers can create. This time, an exquisitly wood-grained Burl Maple top (a rarity for Gibson) caps off a very nice light-weight mahogany body paired with a mahogany neck finished in a lightly yellowed clear coat.
This guitar was featured in Gibson’s latest 2024 Custom Shop Tour where we saw it on the rack for final inspection before being sent out the door and was special enough for the presenter to take off the rack to marvel at its beauty later on camera. The serial for this guitar dates to 2022 as does the back medallion, but it just shipped from Gibson less than 2 weeks ago. Being a Burl top, if you run the light across the top you can see some minor “dips” in the finish in a few areas. I noticed some chipped lacquer UNDER the truss rod cover – worth mentioning for full disclosure but not visible unless you have it off. This shipped from the factory without lacquer on the nut – possible Gibson refitted the nut prior to shipment. You get the guitar exactly as Gibson shipped it.
8lbs 10oz. Ships in original case with COA and other various paperwork as well as the factory non-installed clear pickguard. No mounting screws were included. This was lightly used to create my demo video. It might show a few odd finger prints / minor blemishes but nothing over the top
