Description
This is an early-run Gibson LPJ with a 2012 serial number for this 2013 model!
I made a fun little project out of this one.
MODs I did to this guitar
- scraped the finish along the edge of the maple top to create a faux binding effect. I followed up with some light sandpaper to lighten the color a tad. The job isn’t perfect, but created the desired effect. You could probably clean it up a bit more if you’re more experienced. I softened the edges of the maple cap for a more comfortable feel too
- removed the poker chip (it is in the gig bag if you want it on
- Polished the top into a semi-gloss. Being a stain finish, this was rather resilient to buffing in a few areas. It isn’t perfect, but looks quite nice. The headstock, nut, frets and pickup covers were also polished. I did a light cleaning of the back and neck, but my intentions were not to fully gloss those areas. The neck is slightly more glossy
- I signed the insides of the pickup cavities so people know who to blame 🙂
The top e string sits a bit low in the nut and has a bit of a buzz, but is fine while fretted. I played the guitar just fine as-is, but you might want to fix that if you need perfection. Your personalized set up is also encouraged.
It has some impressions, light dings + scratches from normal wear. I’d call this a 7-8/10 on a harsh scale.
Ships in original gig bag!
